Gearing Up For Christmas

Here is a few pages I've got started for Christmas.  We always make a ton of treats for Friends, Family and our Neighbors.  So, I have a several sweet treats that make their appearance every single year.  But, we also like to introduce some new treasures each year too.  This year I'm going to do some bread making, both sweet and savory varieties.
The little house over on the right is just my way of being able to have a visual of what will be on our Christmas Chain.  We link together little slips of paper with activities to do as a Family.  Each morning one of the kids tear one off and we find time during the day to do whatever was written on the link.  This tradition has been going on since my oldest was tiny....along with the 12 days of Christmas.
The last 12 days till Christmas each of the Kiddos get to open up a gift.  The gifts range from underwear/socks and handmade certificates to art supplies and small travel size products.  Each year they get an ornament, a book and a set of new PJs for sure.  All the other gifts are random.   I started this honestly when my oldest was tiny and I was a single Mom, 20 years old with very little money.  I loved finding inexpensive items or necessities like socks that I could wrap up pretty and see my little guy's face light up.  As they have gotten older I have assigned them a siblings number to make a gift for them with their own hands.  I think their favorites are the ornaments, Pjs and handmade certificates.  I usually put in a day out one on one with Parents or You pick dinner....the possibilities are endless!!!

What are some of your Favorite traditions to do with your Family during Christmas?  I'm getting together supplies now for Cinnamon Ornaments and Salt Dough Ornaments...we do these right after Thanksgiving.  And that will be here before you know it.....where does the time go??????

Making the Holidays Meaningful, but Simple

It almost sounds too good to be true to have both a Meaningful and Simple Holiday Season.  But, that's exactly what I'm planning on having.  I only have a quick moment, but I wanted to write this out to share with all of you.  For years now I have stuck with a simple organized plan.  The key is organization, I have done things basically the same way for about 10 years now.  Before I made my system that actually worked for me I was always running around like a chicken with my head cut off.  I thought to's just not fun, I can't enjoy this season of my life and my children's lives if I'm so scattered and last minute.

Here is what I do...usually in late September or early October I set down and map out a plan for the Holidays starting with Halloween.  We came back from our 9 week long RV trip in Early October, so I whipped mine up pretty quickly.  I organize Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years into sections of my binder.... this year I put it in my bullet journal.  Starting with each Holiday I make a section for Decorations, Activities, Crafts/projects and Food.

Obviously I start with Halloween listing front door and porch decorations, I don't really decorate a lot.  Under activities for Halloween this year we had a fall scavenger hunt that we did around the neighborhood, pumpkin patch and a few movie nights.  Our October flew by since we were on Vacation for the 1st part of it.  For Crafts/Projects we made spiders, monster bread (I will post the recipe tomorrow), carved pumpkins and made gooey eyeball slime.  And for Food, besides the Monster Bread we made some brownies and stuck bone candy inside and frosted some mini cupcakes with witch green cream cheese frosting.

I look at Halloween as a warm up to the rest of the Holidays to come! :)  It's nice to have it all written out, easy to see and cross off when completed.  I also like having everything in one place.  I even use a zipper pouch to keep all my receipts.

I hope this gives you an idea of how you can stay on top of your Holiday planning.  I'll share more tomorrow and next week along with some pictures.

I’m so thrilled You have come to my little piece of the World.  I hope You stay for awhile and join me on this Journey through Life.  Take a moment to Pause, Slow Down and Savor the World around You.
Let’s Grow, Thrive, Encourage and Embrace all of Life’s Moments.

Live With Purpose and Intention....

You know how sometimes you just feel a click inside when you finally "Get IT"?  I had one of those moments and it hit me like a ton of bricks.  And there are days when I have to be reminded of my "It" moment....believe me God has a way of getting my attention. :)  I think for me in My Life I never felt good enough...Never!  I have wrestled with that label I allowed to be attached to me since I was a little girl.  Luckily, I've been pulled through the Grace of God and I know I'm Enough....I'm More than Enough.  God Loved me and Died for me even though he knew all the Sins I was going to make.  He Loved me and has told me I AM ENOUGH......

I don't want my Kiddos to grow up like I did and it's important to me that my Kiddos know that they are More than Enough too.  So, instead of making these crazy schedules, filling their days with impossible expectations I want them to focus on what matters most, I want them to prioritize their time and master the Art of Calm, intentional living.  To Live with Purpose and Intention....everyday all day!  That is what this Momma Strives to do All Day Every Day!

Never Miss Another Moment

Things I’ve been thinking about lately……

If I could share something that I have learned in life what would it be?  Well, it would be that no matter what cards you are given in Life you can still play your hand and play it well.  This is your one chance at life live it, don’t just watch other’s live theirs.  And Success isn’t determined by the amount of stuff you have collected, titles you’ve acquired or money you have earned.  True Success is when you lay your head on your pillow at night and can say that today you did your Best.  You showed up, gave from your heart and hands and lived your Best.

When did Your Best suddenly became not enough?  I remember in school…I did my Best and I went to sleep at night satisfied.  As I got older, became a Mom, a Wife, a part of a Community that all changed.  It all became clear that My Best wasn’t good enough.  Mix in Social Media and all the Self Help books that surround us daily and we begin to doubt even core Bests that we have known and believed for years.  And instead of sleeping like a Baby we are scared stiff in a puddle of sweat as appointments, to-do lists, negative thoughts, worries and doubt fill our minds to the point of a full on anxiety attack.  Yes, this has happened to me…numerous times.
Now how do I cope besides letting go and letting God handle it.  I just wake up every morning and do my Best.  I’ve realized that I can do one moment at a time.  This moment, there is no need to worry about next Wednesday or start mapping my Black Friday Target route in May.  You miss too many precious moments with the people that really matter when you do that.
I don’t want to Miss Any More Moments……

A Little Self Care Goes A Long Way....

Have you heard of Self Care?  I had never heard of it before until a few years ago when our Family went through a crisis and my world came to a crashing halt.  That’s when I first heard about Self Care.  I learned that it’s true what the flight attendant always tells you at the beginning of your flight.  If you don’t put the oxygen max on yourself first you wont be able to help your traveling partner beside you that’s gasping for breath.
Every single day I make a point to practice Self Care.  I have this bag I put together filled with lotions, a candle, nail polishes, books, journals, pens, candies, cards with affirmations on them, pictures of Family and I have a list of things to do for myself.  On that list I have meditation, walking, art, writing, facials, hair masks, soak my feet, read, watch a movie alone with Pop Corn, 5-10 minutes of intentional deep breathing, take a bath with essential oils, make up a scrub or oil combination, make a cup of tea or coffee and drink it outside.  There are so many things that you can add to your special list.  I usually take one to two times out of my day to do one of the things mentioned above.  Some days it may be just lighting a candle, clicking on Pandora and enjoying my morning shower.  Or drinking my tea outside while deep breathing….the point is to take time for yourself and stop putting everyone’s needs before your own.
As Parents that can be hard, my youngest has Autism.  But, I know if I’m not right with myself, I’m not going to be able to be there mentally and emotionally.  Take some time for yourself this next week and watch the difference it makes.
